Pioneer Day

I decided to make cornbread muffins for my Sunday school class to celebrate the holiday. I didn't have a apron for Wes so he wore this hat. Wes decided that he would help cook in living room instead of the kitchen.
Wes really wanted his picture taken while I was downloading the pictures from the camera. So here he is gleefully shouting cheese.

Harry Potter and Birthdays

We headed down to SLC for the weekend. Friday, we packed up and headed down. Wes found this birthday hat and insisted on wearing it. The elastic was broken off so I had to keep putting it back on. He was also very picky about having things put on his lap just so...
We dropped Wes off with my dad in the afternoon, and headed out to see Harry Potter. I first started reading the books and seeing the movies 10 years ago. It is so crazy how much has changed in a decade. I still love the story. The books are so much better then the movies. Really the movies just can't even touch the books in my opinion, but I think they did a pretty good job with this movie. It was fun to go out. This is only the second time we've gone to the theaters since Wes was born. So it was good to get out. Plus, we got some time to sit under a shady tree and visit when we went to pick Wes up.

Saturday morning we had plans to go to the temple, but then we found out it was closed for the holiday. So we didn't end up going. We hung out at Bret's parents' home for a while, and then headed over to my mom's.

My sister's birthday was the day before so we had a little celebration.
Something was wrong with the matches, and they would NOT work. So we had to use our imaginations.
Wes loves feeding the ducks behind my mom's house. We went out a couple of time to throw bread at them. The ducks are pretty tame and will run right up to us. I have to watch though because a duck stole an entire piece of bread out of Wesley's hands and made him cry.
You can't really tell in the pictures, but Wes has his shoes on over is jammies, and it looked so cute and funny.

Bear Lake Vacation

We were going to go on a trip to Bear Lake with Bret's side of the family on Wednesday, 13th of July. Well, Wes woke up really sick the day before. He threw up all over. He laid on me all morning, and I would help him bend over and throw up when he needed. It was so sad.

Around 11:30am he had been sleeping for awhile, and I needed to get up and stretch and eat. Wes woke up and laid on the floor for a couple of minutes. He started saying something, and it took me a minute to realize what it was. He was saying, "knock, knock." Bret was working on the flower bed and would tap on the blocks with a hammer. Well, Wes really liked the noise and went out to see. It amazed me the transformation in a few hours.
Wednesday came along, and Wes threw up again in the morning. We decided to keep Wes home, and Bret was going to go up alone. I was sad to miss the fun, but I really wanted Bret to go play. He has been working so hard the last few months while I have been sick. I was okay missing the fun because I knew that at least Bret was going to have an enjoyable time.

Thursday night I had a hard time falling asleep because I felt so horrible. I finally fell asleep after 1:00am. I woke up vomiting just after 4:00am. I was violently vomiting every 30 minutes or so after that until about 9:00am. I couldn't figure out how I kept having things to throw up Mostly stomach acid, but still. Over the last few months I have gotten to know what it is like to vomit over and over and on an empty stomach, but this was different. I was getting worried about becoming too dehydrated. I called Bret at 7:30am to ask him to come home. He hurried home, and I counted the minutes until he got here. He had an hour drive.

Wes woke up just before I called Bret. Wes always hate when I throw up, but this was the morning that he decided to fight back. He kept trying to pull me away from the toilet as I was vomiting. Oh, man that kid is strong. Ugh. (Sorry about giving way to much info).

Well, once Bret got home he took Wes, and I slept and slept. Oh, man. Putting the stomach flu on top of morning sickness is not fun. It is the worst of both worlds. Thankfully I have the best husband in the world who took wonderful care of our child. I did feel bad though because Bret didn't have the fun day I had hoped for.

I was amazed on Friday when I woke up okay. I was weak, but fine. How I improved so much in 24 hours I do not know. I am very grateful still.

It took all day to pack and clean the house, but we were able to head up on Friday evening. We had dinner with the family, and then went to bed.

Saturday, part of the family went four wheeling and part went boating. I let Bret pick what we did because I was worried about motion sickness from either. Things that are normally very fun, are not desirable this summer. So I have to live vicariously through my husband.
Wes, Bret, and I went on a little baby ride in a circle after everyone came back. The short slow ride really reaffirmed my decision to not to go on a long ride.
Later, everyone but Wes and I went to a cool cave. I decided to not go because there are a lot of stairs, and sometimes exerting myself makes me throw up. Well, it could be extra bad if I lost my lunch in a cave. Better safe the sorry.

Saturday night I went to a play at a little local theater while Bret stayed with Wes. It was fun to go out and have some fun entertainment.

The condo we stayed in was with Bret's sister who has four boys. Wes loved playing with his cousins.
I didn't really get many pictures, but we had fun spending time with everyone.

Paint with Water

Paint with water...ahhh...so nice with a toddler.
Wes was really into it.
I left the room for a minute, and when I came back I noticed he had just dumped the water right on the page. Luckily, it was only water so it was easy to clean up.
From this to...
...that.
I really love this kid!

Always Helping

Wes threw his sippy cup and got milk on the floor. He went over to the draw, got a dish cloth, and wiped up the milk. I was pretty impressed he cleaned it up himself. Then he put the cloth back in the draw. So maybe there's still a little to learn, but not too bad.
He just can't help but to be cute.
Sometimes it's a bit more work when he helps.

4th of July

I dressed Wes in patriotic colors all weekend just for funsies. Saturday after Bret got home from work, we worked in the yard and did a little shopping.
Before bed we lit a firework. Wes made me hold him once it started, but he did okay with it.
Sunday we went to church and then played outside a bit.
Monday (the actual 4th), I skipped the parade. It was overcast which would have made it nice, but I wasn't feeling great. Plus, I was also the only on who cared to go. Bret went into work, and a couple of hours turned into all day. I decided to make the most of it and watched a Revolutionary War documentary while I cleaned. We ended going out to eat at the Blue Bird to eat because we don't have a bbq. Then we took a picture of us using the auto function. We tried some fireworks, but Wes was not a fan.
I really love America!

And July Begins

We decided to go on a little hike to kick of July. We went to the same area as last time, but we decided to take a trail that looked easier. It was for the beginning of the hike. Not too much of an incline and plenty of shade. We crossed one bridge of three logs (old poles?) laid across the river.
We went a little father and then reached this point. The only way across was this single log. This picture doesn't show how fast the water was going.
It was more like this.
We decided to turn back because it just wasn't worth the risk. We probably didn't even hike half a mile. Oh well. Maybe we'll try again later in the season when the water isn't so fierce.
On the way back Bret pointed to a flower and said it was for me. He didn't pick it because he knows that I don't like for wild flowers to get picked. I would rather them stay there for all to enjoy. Then he decided to pick one for Wes. Sigh. I guess at least Wes liked it.
Before we went home had a bunch of fun playing in the dirt,. He got pretty dusty.
Back at home Wes was super helpful working on the flower bed.
l
Hiking and yard work. Summer is great.

A Couple of Moving Pictures

Here are some picture from when we helped my mom move the end of June.
Wesley provided the music.
My niece found this little bird hopping around the parking lot. She took it in and gave it all the care and love she could. Sadly, Peter the bird died a couple of days later.

Ultrasound, 2 Family Reunions, and Moving

Friday, June 24th, I got up early to finish packing and get ready to go. We had the 20 week ultrasound in the morning, and then we were going to head straight down to Heber for Bret's family reunion.
Here is the cat super happy to have the big water container. We don't have this one out much because Wes makes a huge mess with it.
Wes being a big helper.
Well, we got part way through the canyon, and then our car stopped working. Thank goodness our insurance has roadside assistance. And it was also nice the mechanics had a shuttle. We finally got home and had lunch. Then packed up the Honda and headed out several hours later then when we started. Wes enjoyed seeing the cool "brmm brmm," and it went as well as it could for a break down in the canyon.
We missed most of the days activities, but we met up with everyone for games and dinner at the park. I found out that I am related to one of my favorite neighbor's (who I had seen earlier that day because he is the ma for my doctor). Her sister is married to Bret's cousin's son. Small, funny world.
We enjoyed seeing everyone, but were pretty tired by the time we got to the hotel. We put Wes in the stroller as highchair like restraint, but it still took forever to feed him. We all went to bed at the same time. Late for Wes, but early for Bret and I. I loved listening to him babble as we fell asleep. I was glad we went to bed early because it was extra early when I woke up to "ball, ball, ball."
Wes has never seen a corded phone before. He started typing the buttons like a keyboard on a computer. Oh, how times change.
We headed down to Sandy for a reunion on my side the next morning.
Wes and his Punka. He was such a grandparent kid that weekend. He just clung to whatever grandparent was closest.
Playing at the park.
After that we went to my mom's to help her move. Boy, it was a busy weekend. Luckily, I wasn't too sick. All in all it was great.
I love seeing family!

First Day of Summer

We celebrated the summer solstice by swimming in the back yard.
I didn't have swim diaper (plus they are expensive if he's just swimming in a kiddy pool), and I wasn't sure if I should keep his regular diaper on. It filled up super fast and was completely bulging. It didn't take long for him to go diaperless.
