Thoughts on moving

It has been so fun and exciting to move into a house, but it has also been so much work. We had been planning on doing most of the moving the weekend of June 18th. Bret's parents came up and helped us move a couple of loads, and my mom can up and helped pack and watch the baby that Friday. We decided not to move that weekend on Saturday because Bret was on call for work and only the apartment had the Internet. Too bad we moved most of the kitchen the day before. We were pretty torn up there for a while.

Our friends, Jessie and Amber, gave us a key to their truck and let us use it whenever. I don't know what we would have done without that. And Bret and I were able to take a load or two over each evening during the week. Jessie also help us load and unload a couple of things that were just too heavy for me to be able to help Bret with. One time after he came after he had spent hours of testing for school. Our neighbor across the street helps us unload the washer and dryer. We as so thankful for the help we received.

Bret and I did end up doing most of it ourselves because the ward we moved from had 5 families move the weekend that we actually moved, and we didn't need help as much as the other families. Plus our families live far away. It was so much work, but we got it done.

I also spent a good amount of time cleaning the old apartment. I have heard that the complex is terrible about returning deposits, but I still scrubbed it out and left it cleaner then I found it. It just seemed like the right thing to do. At least the people who move in after us won't have to live with our gunk.

Wesley was not a fan of moving. I really could have used a babysitter, but my two friend us here that offered to watch him have babies. And since Wes went through the height of baby fear while we were moving that didn't work. Oh well, I can't complain too much.

I am grateful for the help we got moving up here in January, and the help with this last move. I am grateful for the time we had between our house being completed and our lease being up. I am grateful for my awesome husband and sweet child. I am grateful to own a home. And I am grateful to not have to move again any time soon!

Spitting Food

Wesley has begun spitting food..not because he doesn't like the food, but because he likes spitting the food. How can his behavior be so obnoxious and adorable at the same time?

Progress

We bought pizza for our neighbor's to repay them. They gave us a key to their truck and told us we could take it anytime. We found out that Wesley was not only scared of their baby, but their dog as well. We would comfort him, and over the evening he began warming up, and then he gave us a little surprise. He just got up on his hand and knees an started rocking! So exciting! Plus, notice how there is an unhappy baby in the background, and Wes is just fine. By the end of the evening he decided the doggy was pretty cool.

Goodbye Old Home

Here's our little crowded living room. I never ended up handing things on the walls.
Packing stressed my little guy out.
Wesley's Room
Dinning room
Kitchen
Our room
Upstairs Bath
Downstairs bathroom.
This picture was taken from where the table use to be. I was glad for a second bathroom, but I am glad the neither of the bathrooms in my house are next to the dinning room.
Some of the pictures were taken while we were packing and some when the apartment was cleared out, but I just wanted to have pictures of where we use to live.

Wesley sits and plays so cute. He puts his fingers over the buttons and shakes the phone in order to push the buttons.
He's so much fun!

Swimming

We went swimming in the beginning June, and Wes didn't know what to think about it. He wouldn't let me put him in his yellow floaty, but he was also super tired.
We went again yesterday, and Wes did really well. He cling to me for a few minutes, but eventually let me put him in his floaty. It didn't take long for him to start to really enjoy it. The only time he got scared was when another baby got in the pool.
We went again today with my neighbors, and I was able to get a short little video of my cutey.

Spippy Cup and Grass

This post is brought to you by the letter R

What do you want me to do, Mom?
Hold and 'R' for a picture for Grandpa?
Like this?
Maybe I should shake it.
Look at there's a hole I can put my hand through.
Oh, hold like this.

Hmmm, what does a 'R' taste like?

Oh good, a ball.

Hand Print

My little guy took a nap on his hand, and it left this funny print after.

Front Pack Face

This is the face that I get to look down at everyday in the front pack.
It's an Ergo Baby carrier, and it is so much better on my back.

Happy Birthday Grandma Les!

Love you so much!

Pedophobia

The first time Wes cried at a baby coo, I just thought it was because he was tired and sensitive. We were at my neighbor's house and whenever her baby would make a cute little noise Wes would do his scared cry and cling to me. We see this neighbor all the time so it wasn't stranger anxiety...it was his newly developed paedophobia.

Then I noticed this was a pattern with all babies. Older kids are okay with him unless the screech or scream, but all baby noises are pretty terrifying according to Wes. Thunder's okay though.

My friend came up to check out the new house, and I was able to capture this sad little face. I love his little lips. Here's one of the babies that scare him....sweet little Sam is terrifying...

Wes wasn't crying or scared the whole time they were there. In fact he like playing with her kids...except when her baby made noises.
Here his is happily hoping.

Look how cool my friend's hair look in the wind. Wes doesn't think she is scary.

(No babies were harmed in the making of this blog. I comforted Wesley promptly after taking the picture and video.)

Our House June 11th (pretty much done!)

Home Sweet Home!
I am so happy with my house, and excited to move in. We'll close next week.

Here are some things that I like about my house:
-We got to pick out our colors (not our floor plan, but that's okay)
-It's green
-The roof matches the stone and the green in the siding (hard to tell in the picture, but come visit and you'll see. Plus, we love visitors).
-Local builder using local suppliers.
-Awesome location and town.
-Granite counter tops came standard.
-Stainless steel appliance came standard.
-Was $25,000-30,000 less then all the other houses in the area in our price range.
-We're the first ones to live in it.
-It's ours and it feels so good.
-The house across the street have yards.
-We are two houses down from a Parade of Homes house.

Wes sleeping sound after a fun time checking out our new house!

Wes has had a hard time drinking out of a bottle, but we've been worried about him getting enough water. Well this sippy cup has solved our problem. Thank you sippy cup for giving my baby water!

Our House June 4th

The stone is almost all on (just a little missing on the far left).
And our cabinets and counters are in!
Master bath.
Main bath.
Oooo, I love the way it looks! Which is so good because I was afraid that we would choose something mistakenly that would make it look off. I was afraid that people would say...oh, yes I can see you picked your own colors. Well, hopefully others like it as well as we do.
