Baby's 1st March Madness

I got Wesley all ready to celebrate March Madness in style.
Wes had a leaky diaper so the style didn't last all night, but he's started to learn to scoot. He started out in the middle of the blanket, and made his way to the blankets.
Saturday was the first day of Spring, and it was a beautiful day. We took a drive in the canyon and stopped at this cool cave. We had to explore it one at a time because Wes was sleeping in the car. Life is different with a little one.
Then we went for a walk around the USU campus. It was fun to walk around and look at the buildings I use to spend so much time in.
We went off roading a little. First we walked up next to the stairs on Old Main Hill and then up this hill.
Wes loves his feet. (Notice the little sports balls on his socks. There are also little sports balls on his onesie that you can see more in a couple pictures. And yes I am that nerdy.)
All decked out and ready to watch the BYU game.
USU and BYU lost, but at least we had a fun weekend.

St. Patrick's Day

The night before St. Patrick's day I realized that his festive onesie was dirty so I stayed up to wash it. So, naturally he had a blow out diaper before I got a chance to get a picture of him in it. Sometimes I just have to laugh. (If you want to see what it looks like you can go to my happy day blog.)
Here is post blow out. He really enjoys not wearing clothes so I let him hang out in just his diaper for a while.
Bret wasn't planning on wearing green...luckily he put it on once I asked him. I wouldn't want him to get pinched.
We had Lucky Charms for breakfast and shepherd's pie for dinner. I also called my Irish grandmother to celebrate the day.

First Rain, Books, and Crib

This is Wesley's first time being out in the rain. It's had to tell but there are a few rain drops on Bret's glasses and Wesley's head.
We want to Salt Lake for the day to look for a crib. (Long story short we were in the position of needing to by a new crib.) We went to Naunnie's to see if we could find some missing pieces from the crib we have. Wes really likes books. He enjoys when I read to him, and was even happy to be on his tummy and look at the book himself.
We went to Babies R Us to look at some cribs, and Wes enjoyed being entertained by Uncle Alex.
We picked out a couple of cribs and decided to order on line because we don't have car big for the crib to fit in. We didn't stay too long because the rain turned into a snow storm, and we wanted to get home before it got dark.

Tummy Time

Wes is not the biggest fan of tummy time, but how dramatic it is really just depends on the day.
Here he isn't happy, but he isn't screaming so there's progress.
Here he was entertained for a few minutes before screaming.
The only time he really like being on his tummy is when he is "flying." (He's not smiling in the picture because he saw the camera. I have to be creative to get smiling pictures.)
Wes had started to roll over when he was upset during tummy time, but now putting his head down and sobbing.

Birthday Time

Bret turned 28 the same day Wes turned 4 months.
My birthday boys!
We had planned to go to the zoo on Bret's birthday, but it was too cold. So we went to the pet store and Cafe Sabor. Bret was on call for work and got called. So we stopped in to the hospital before going out for the celebration. It was fun to see where he works. It was cool to see the machine where they keep the drugs the nurses give to patients. He has to use his thumb print to open it (like a spy).
We were too full from dinner to do desert on his birthday. So we had pie and ice cream the next day. It was a little warmer so we headed of to the zoo.
Don't be fooled by this cute cuddly animal. It's a porcupine.
I am pretty sure many hair cuts in the 90's were inspired by this duck.
Wes was more interested in the fences then the animals for most of the trip, but here he is staring at a cartoon looking duck.
The Willow Park Zoo is a small little zoo, but we had a good time.

Roll'n in the Excitement

It all began with Wes sleeping well last night, so I was able to get some good rest.
Then Wesley rolled over for the first time during tummy time!
I decided to try on my pre-pregnancy jeans just to try, and I was able to wear them. I still an not back to my pre-pregnancy size, but being able to wear the jeans made me pretty happy!
Wes accidentally poked himself in the eye while I was holding him, and needed some comforting. His hurt cry is so sad.
A little later we went to Kohl's to look for a gift for Bret's birthday. Wes helped me pick out the blue shirt before he fell asleep while looking for a tie to go with it. I went around the store to see if there was anything else Bret might like and I discovered a killer sale. I ended up saving more than double what I spent, and I got some very nice clothes for Bret.

When we got home we were happy to find that Bret got off work early. Wes was in a super cute mood. He had had a good nap while I shopped, plus he was happy to see his daddy.
We also discovered that he has a tiny little tooth starting to poke through his mouth. (I tried to take a picture, but it is on the bottom center and Wes just kept trying to lick my fingers when I pulled his lip down.)

What a day!

(I just noticed that my last two blogs are about happy days. I didn't make a blog for the two days in between that were a little ruff because my little guy was not doing so well at night. At least I was able to go on walks those days. Anyway, my point is that not everything is perfect, but it's more fun to write about the good time.)

Yesterday was such a fun day because Wes was in a funny mood. He was give a little laugh when he wanted attention and would giggle and giggle.
He also looked so cute in his front pack.

Prayer Hands

When Wes isn't playing with toys or his blanket, he can found with his hands clasped together. Bret and I call them prayer hands, and it is adorable.
Wes only gets to wear his hand mitts when we go for walks. We have to watch him though because he loves sucking on them, and he make them soaking wet in not much time.
Elephant trunks are delicious.
Can't get over how cute he is!
I made chicken pot pie from scratch last week. It took forever, but it turned out pretty good.

It is so fun to see him discovering the world. Last week he was fascinated by my face and would stare and touch it. I also love his little raspberries he is always blowing as he jabbers on.
