I over heard Wesley talking as he was playing,"Mommy loves me so much? Yeeees."
I am so glad my little question talker knows how special he is to me.

4 month check up
When Brynn had her immunizations at her 2 month check up her had a hard time. Her legs were swollen and she screamed at the top of her lungs for over and hour, and then whimpered in my arms for the rest of the day.
When I told the doctor about reaction at her 4 month check yesterday it seemed like for a moment she wasn't going to be able to have anymore. Luckily he asked more questions and decided it was okay. I am so grateful. I am also grateful she didn't have as hard of a time. We gave her Tylenol before the shots (thanks for the advise, Mom), and I really think that helped.
See no tragic screaming. She's been a little more fussy the last couple of days, but really it hasn't been too bad.

(switched from last time)
Also we were five minutes late to our appointment because I couldn't figure out why my hair was lying funny, and then I realized it was because of a bald spot from postnatal hair loss. Sigh, at least it is covered up by hair that hasn't fallen out (yet). Still this kids are SO worth all the crazy stuff that goes along with pregnancy.
Oh, the doctor also said her eyes will probably stay blue. I hope they do. It will be so fun to have one brown eyed and one blue eyed child. Then maybe later we will get a green eyed one.
What the what?!
Brynn loves to grab her feet and chew on things. So you can imagine her joy at pulling off her sock and putting it in her mouth. I love how you can see her smile around her hand and sock.
This kid really loves his excavator.
This little girl has so much personality!
Sometimes I look at him, and I am flooded with memories of what things felt like as kids. Like finding a new cool place to play.
How am I so lucky to have the cutest kids?

My Little Leprechauns
Oh, I think I must have some real Irish luck to have these two!
Making a cool noodle necklace.
I tried on Wesley's hat I made, and he just happened to be drinking from an orange cup. Ha ha.
Look how much he's grown up in a year.
Art project was shake painting paper shamrocks with dyed ranch. Wes actually tasted the ranch. Yay.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

This Kid
I heard fake crying from the other room and found this when I came out.
Wes likes to look at himself in the mirror all the time.
A few weeks back Wesley was consistently asked me to sing the "green Jesus song." I kept trying to figure it our. I talked to his nursery teachers at church, and they tried to figure it out. He hadn't mentioned it for about a week, and then a few days ago he said, "Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbink, green Jesus song." I respond, "Oh, Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam is the green Jesus song?" "No, Jesus Wants Me for a Sun-bink...BINK." He is really into correcting me.
Wes is really pretty good with his letters and his letter sounds. He loves to look at books and find the letters and make the sounds. However he does not know his lowercase letters yet. One day he was looking at the book Chicka Chicka ABC. The letters in the illastartions are lower case. Wesley asked me what the 'a' was , and I told him it was a lower case 'a.' He looked at it for a moment and then told me, "Lowercase 'a' hard for me."

Doin' Stuff
Wes is such a funny and crazy kid. He is constantly singing.
Brynn is refining her skill at getting whatever she can reach in her mouth.
She's outgrowing more and more of her 0-3 clothes. Since she is almost 4 months I shouldn't be surprised.
She loves to scoot if it means she can chew on something. She's ambitious that way.
Working on eating. I told Wes to rub the tomato soup in his hair because he was freaking out that it was on his hands (for some reason rubbing food in his hair helps him feel better about textures). He slapped it all over his face, but he licked it of his lips. This is a good step for him.
I wonder who this orange cat belongs to. Anyone know? He was around all the time just before my cats got fixed and then before my next door neighbor's cat got fixed. Ivory did not appreciate him being by our door.
(Also I am looking for some cute patterned curtains. I don't mind spending some money, but I don't want really expensive ones by the back door and kitchen table. Any suggestions where to look?)

We made some play dough because the one little store bought one wasn't enough.. I stained my hands while making these three beautiful colors. Then they got mixed while I changed Brynn's diaper. Oh, well as long as he had fun.
I gave Wes a mirror so he could see all the bubbles on his head. It was a hit.
Annabelle is Brynn's other best friend. She's was born about a month before Brynn. Annabelle's twin sister play so well with Wes (he is a little obsessed). Bret and I are big fans of her parents (her mom is one of those people that it would be easy to dislike out of jealousy, but she's so awesome you have not choice but to love her). So it just makes sense for the two baby girls to be pals.
So cute hanging out together.

High Roller
Brynn just rolled over for the 1st time! I had her tummy in her crib with her mobile going above her. It took her a few minutes, but she rolled over to look at it.
Milestones are so fun!

Overkill?
Yesterday was Oreo's 100th anniversary. After bouncing Brynn on my knee forever as she screamed (she forgot how to again, sigh) I finally got her to sleep. I left Bret with a house full of napping children and went to our little neighborhood grocery store. The store was crazy with Oreo fever. I even got recruited to play a who can roll the Oreo farthest game. I did embarrassingly bad, but I still got a small pack if the cookie as a participation prize.
I bought a package of Birthday Cake Oreos to eat after dinner. Why not celebrate?
In a week's time we did a lot of celebrating big and small:
Wednesday: Leap Day
Friday: Dr. Suess Day
Sunday: Brynn's Blessing
Monday: Bret's Birthday
Tuesday: Oreos Birthday
5 out of 7 days....overkill? Maybe, but who really minds? Not me!
Happy Birthday, Daddy!
I went to go get Bret's birthday gift, and the store didn't have it. We were walking around trying to decided what to get when Wes found a little football. He said he wanted the red one. I asked him which color he thought Daddy would like, and he chose the black one. Wes was excited to give Bret the gift he chose himself.
Bret was born 30 years ago.
I found out I was pregnant with Wes 3 years ago.
I found out I was pregnant with Brynn 1 year ago.
March 5th is a special day in our family!

Getting Bigger
I love my newborns, but I have to admit I like it when they start getting a little bigger. They smile and laugh, and their cute little personalities start to shine. They get a little hardier and sleep a little less terribly.
Brynn had so many repeated colds that she got in really bad sleep habits. Most days she was only taking two or three 15-20 minute naps. Up until five or so days ago she was eating every one or two hours day and night. She had circles and was fussy. I won't get into all the details, but it was hard and my brain was going crazy from sleep deprivation.
I don't want to make her cry it out yet, but through prayer and some other strategies it is getting better. She's starting to nap in the day (that's how people get things done), she'll let me put her down. She is so happy. She's no where close to sleeping through the night and last night was hard, but really she is doing so much better.
She is such a cutie. Sleep or no sleep I am crazy about this little girl!
Baked Cottonball
Don't worry we didn't eat it.
1 cup flour
1 cup water (I am going to add a little extra water next time).
cotton balls
food coloring
Dip cotton balls
Bake at 300 degrees for 45 minutes
The fun is in breaking then, but they were a bit too hard. Next time I will try a thinner coat and have something like a little mallet to break them with.

Videos
I found some videos I never posted.
This is my favorite. Makes me laugh so hard. Like the collard shirt under the jammies? Wes insisted, and it was a battled I didn't care to have. Maybe it will be a cool new trend.

Wrapping up February
I am going to wrap Frebruary up in this long long post.
Except when she randomly grabbed his cheek just as I was snapping this picture.
Wesley is currently scared of kitchen appliance. He runs and hides in closets and behind chairs. This fear is particularly problematic with the crock pot.
Playing in the snow. Had to shovel the grass (again) to get enough snow for a snow-woman.
Four months after I made his Halloween costume, Wes finally tried it on. Naturally he wanted his ghost doll to be in the pictures. There is also a small chance I bribed him with candy.
The bright sun breaking through storm clouds.
Some things that made me smile and laugh:
~The face Brynn made as the Jazz were about to loose.
~Wesley looking like Wolverine after his haircut.
~The Christmas tree cutouts in my flower vase.
~Wesley telling me he drew a 'Q', and it actually looked looked like it.
~Wesley had a runny nose and kept wiping it with his sleeve. It resulted in very chapped cheeks. I put Vaseline on them one night. The next night I just used lotion. Wes cried that it was hurting and wanted the "firefighter." Wes told me it was on the table, but was upset when it wasn't there and ran to the linen closet. Then I realized Vaseline was the "firefighter".
~Wes playing outside while I did dishes and watched from the window.
~A washing machine full of stuffed animals.
Brynn at 3 days and 15 weeks:
Brynn is outgrowing her gowns. This is my favorite one on her.
More smiling:
Brynn had a blowout on at church, I forgot to pack extra clothes, I randomly had one of Wesley's onsies int the bag. So she got to wear the police car shirt. Wes has asked for it the day before and I thought it was in the laundry. He was very good at sharing a prized possession and was excited about following Jesus by helping his sister be warm and clean. He did insist on wearing the onsie Monday through Wednesday morning when I finally convince him it needed to be washed.
Wes drew a picture of the table. Brow scribbles in a mostly round shape. My little artist.
Wes brings Brynn toys all the time. She;s getting big enough to enjoy them.
Wesley being a big helper. My husband being his usual amazing self.
The 28th was International Pancake Day so naturally we had pancakes for dinner.
Bath time and Splashing
Leap day Wes refused to do the Leap Day projects I had planned for most of the day with the exception of jumping/leaping around the house yelling,"Happy Leap Frog Day!" (Leap Frogs is the name of his food class.)
Finally I got him to paint this picture I made from free art clips and Photoshop by painting it together.
I was baptized on Leap Day when I was eight, and I have had extra love for it ever since because it reminds me of the special Spirit I felt on that day.
