November 7, 2009

Wesley had to spend most of the day in the fluorescent light bed. My niece loved the lights when she was a baby, so I was surprised to see how much Wes disliked being in the bed. I felt like making him stay in the bed was emotional maltreatment but not putting him in the bed would be medical neglect. It was such a relief every time I got to take him out to eat.

The bed did look rather SciFi. My Dad found it as funny as I did. Grandma Les did awesome keeping him calm in the bed while my Dad and she visited.
A moment of calm.
Wes enjoying a small break from the bed during Naunnie's visit.

Wes was alert quite a bit, but it was hard to get a picture of it because he would close his eyes when the red light from my camera shined on his face.

I really can't get over how cute he is.

The hospital brought us a nice dinner for our final night at the hospital. It took us an hour to be able to start eating because Wesley did not want to be under the lights and we couldn't calm him down while he was in it.
So we gave in and Bret held him while we ate. It was a very delicious and nice dinner.
Happy to be on Daddy's lap.
Bret stayed at the hospital for a second night, and I was again grateful for his help.

Sunday was the big day that we were going home. We left the hospital on Wesley's due date.

Wesley made us laugh so much when he would hold his binky in and look around the room.
He is so amazingly cute.
I had to get my staples taken out, and I was so nervous. My mom came up and distracted me, and Bret took care of Wes. The nurse was so awesome, and it hardly hurt at all.

We packed up, and then I needed a little break.

Here I am getting Wesley ready to go home.
Here we are ready to go.
We drove home on a beautiful autumn day. The ride home was uncomfortable for me, but Wes seemed to enjoy his car seat and slept the whole time.
Once we were home we realized we were all on our own, and we weren't really sure what we were doing. Still it was nice to be home.

Frankenpumpkin

It is amazing how much fun it is to light things on fire...especially Jack-O-Lanterns. We sure had fun setting Frankenpumkin ablaze.
Look how happy they are:
I love the flames coming out of his eyes!
We brought the fire extinguish just in case, but luckily didn't need.
What he looked like afterward.
Be glad that you can't smell what he smelled like afterward.

Halloween 2009

We went to my Mom's house and carved pumpkins. I was so excited because I found a pumpkin shaped like Frankenstein's head and was so excited. I named him Frankenpumpkin. Bret cut off top and it was full of black mold. So we didn't clean it out and just cut the face out. We decided the best thing to do was to light it on fire with lighter fluid.
My sister's pumpkin was mold free.
Kylie didn't like touching the pumpkin guts because it stung the little cuts on her hand.
She was fine once she got some plastic gloves.
It is a tradition to draw what you want on paper before you put it on the pumpkin.
We are making monster faces to match out monster pumpkin.
I didn't get any good pictures of Alex's pumpkin, but it was a vampire and I really liked the way it turned out.
I love Halloween, but this year I haven't had a chance to do as many fun Halloween things because I have been busy with baby stuff (which is awesome so don't think I am complaining), but it was nice to have a fun Halloween day. And I think carving pumpkins is one of the funnest things.
