Train Party

I did a combine birthday party for Brynn and Wes at The Train Shoppe.  It is such a cute and fun place.  Plus, it is locally owned which makes it a big bonus.

My sister-in-law did the finishing touches on the cake.  She is amazing.  I am very grateful for her help.

The frozen cake didn't fall over, but we were a little worried that it wouldn't thaw in time either.  Luckily, it was just fine by the time we ate it.

I got these free printables from this website. I used photoshop to add the words and change the colors to add pink, orange, and green to some of the signs to match the printables on the party favors.

The food table.  I really liked the idea I saw several different websites about turning the food containers into a train.  I used the tinfoil ones from the dollar store.  They come with lids which was really nice for transportation.

I think I am the only one who found the pun super funny, but it made me smile.

Birthday kids!

I was so excited when I found the bright colored paper straws.  I don't know why they add so much fun to a party, but they just do.

The little train that went around at the top of the wall was so fun to watch and added extra excitement.

Party favors

We had such a variety of ages that I wanted to have activities that would appeal to everyone.  Photo booth prop are really popular right now so I thought it would be fun to have.  I couldn't find a train themed printable so I made my own.   It is really pretty easy.  I just blew up free clip are I found online and used Photoshop to make the all aboard and choo choo signs.

The props ended up being so so fun.  The kids were cracking me up.

Brynn is so sweet and funny.

 Outside the party room there was so much for the kids to see and do.

The was a train on a little track the kids could control for a quarter.

This little train is so fun to ride on.  The kids got guns to shoot targets with.  I am not normally all about guns for small children, but it was not a violent thing at all.

It was fun to watch the other kids while Brynn and I waited our turn.

There were so many fun things to look at along the ride.

Cakes time.  Brynn was scared of the candles.

After the cake we opened presents and had more fun with the photo props.

 

Nuannie was good sport and played along.

 

We wanted to take a picture of the two friends wearing pigtails.  For only being 2 days older, Hannah has a ton more hair.

It was so much work, but all in all it turned out to be so much fun!  I love my two little birthday kids.

Party Favors

I did coal play dough for a party favor.  I used my neighbor's amazing recipe that uses vanilla.  Not only does the vanilla improve the texture, but it gives it a nice, warm smell.

I sent some of the train crayon's to school with Wes with a tag that said, "Engines roar, Wesley's 4!"  For the combine party the crayon labels said, "Choo Choo Brynn is 2!  Engines roar, Wesley's 4!"

I got the coloring pages here and just shrunk them to a smaller size.

I used paper bags and the printable water bottle and cupcake toppers I got from this website.

The Night Before the Party

I went to go visit my sister-in-law, and she helped me with the cakes.  She is so super talented.

Wes and his little cousin the same age play so well together.

We did a ton of work on the cake, and then it started tipping.

So we put in the freezer and hoped it wouldn't collapse.

We were nervous about the cakes, but it was such a nice evening together.

Wesley's 4th Birthday

Wesley had really wanted a bigger bike.  His tricycle would only go so fast before tipping over.  He would always steal the little girl next doors bike when she left it out.  He actually wanted a girl bike just like it, but it was the wrong size, and I don't think he would appreciate a pink bike in the next couple of years.  We he saw the bike ready to go when he woke up that morning he didn't complain one bit about the color.  He was so excited

Naturally he had to try it outside after he ate breakfast and got ready.

He got to open the rest of his presents later that day.  He was super excited about the bike bell.

We went to the park to do 4 year old pictures and then came home and had cake.  He had insisted on having a cake shaped the number 4.  I think it is because he had a 3 shaped cake last year.

The neighbor girls came over to help us eat the cake.

Then they took turns standing on the stool singing birthday songs.

I can't believe that Wes is already 4.  He is growing up so fast.  At the same time it seem like I have been his mother for much longer then that.

I love his cute little personality.  The way he studies things and explains they way he sees the world to me.

After the kids went to bed Bret put Wesley's bike together.

And I did the traditional crepe paper streamers with his age on the door.
